Spongy, crunchy, chocolate, ice-cream or Bavarian style: there’s no limit to the imagination in the call launched by Lugano City of Taste, looking to crown the finest plated dessert of the event.
In order to track down a both ‘tasty and beautiful’ dessert, that best capable of reflecting Lugano as the Capital of Taste 2018, we decided to involve the members of the sector by creating a competition just for them which may also serve as a real show for all.

And so, Lugano City of Taste, in collaboration with SMPPC, Società Mastri Pasticceri-Confettieri e panificatori of the Ticino Canton, and Giuseppe Piffaretti (better known as Mastro Piff) are staging a competition open to professionals in the sector, on a quest for the finest plated dessert in the land.
There will be time to enrol until 31 July 2018, after which Sunday 16 September will be the date of the show cooking featuring the finalists of the competition at the Palazzo dei Gusti (the ‘new name’ for the Palazzo dei Congressi of Lugano). The best desserts will be selected by a jury of experts and journalists headed by Mastro Piff himself, long one of the best-known professionals in the ‘sweet art’ of Ticino.

The theme of the contest will in fact be ‘Lugano City of Taste’: a way to pay sweet homage to the great event that will transform the city into the Swiss capital of food and wine from 13 to 23 September.
